2025’s Interior Design Trends Will Elevate Your Space

There’s nothing quite like the sense of comfort you feel when you walk into your home, and everything just flows. With ever-changing interior design trends and an overload of inspiration at our fingertips, creating a space that really feels special can be challenging. Trends can also be overwhelming; you might wonder what changes to make, which are worth following, and how to incorporate them to fit your personal style. What’s a fleeting fad, and what has lasting appeal?

To answer these questions, we reached out to Lulu & Georgia for some professional insights. We spoke with their design expert, Jenna Kincaid, to discuss 2025’s boldest trend predictions that are must-follow shifts in the world of interior design. According to Kincaid, we can expect to see bursts of color and in-your-face patterns.

There’s an increasing shift away from the monotony of an ‘all-white’ home. Lulu & Georgia’s latest spring collection proves that personality-packed, expressive designs aren’t just making a comeback–they’re leading the way.

“It doesn’t mean that all-neutral spaces are out,” they reassure. “You don’t have to re-cover your sofa or paint every wall in your home. Rather, embrace fun accents where it makes sense for your style–a fun rug or a patterned throw pillow are good places to start.”

If the thought of updating your home’s interior sounds like a chore, keep this advice in mind and consider altering smaller design elements instead. Rather than committing to a time-consuming, costly renovation, there are ways to completely transform your home with just furniture and decor. Whether you’re a home-owner, renting, or looking to move in the not-too-distant future, consider quality, timeless pieces that can move with you and work anywhere.

When it comes to the topic of color, we can look forward to the return of earthy hues and brighter greens and yellows. “We’re still loving chocolate to add a warm, rich tone to spaces, but we’re also craving butter yellow, rich terracotta hues, and sage green,” Kincaid enthuses.

It’s not just color that we’re keeping up with—vibrant patterns are everywhere. “From stripes to florals to animal prints, we love to see it. Wallpaper is also back in a big way, and we’re having fun using bold patterns in powder baths, dining rooms, and bedrooms—it adds instant personality.”

If you’re looking to overhaul your home, shop for a few unique pieces, or are curious to see what trends are set to take over, read on. We’ve carefully curated selections that speak to every style.

Artfully Curated Collections

styled bookshelf

I always admire the collections of trinkets and photographs artfully arranged on open shelves and tucked away in curio cabinets–items that are special and unique to each home. Curated shelves aren’t just for your guests to get lost in–they’re your own personal mini art galleries, a way to constantly transform a room into a visual playground you’ll never get tired of. To create your own styled collection, gather items that remind you of your favorite places, such as books with images of your fondest travel locations, souvenirs from local artisan shops, or an imposing vase to display preserved flowers.

Consider what you’d love to see when you look at your shelves. What will bring you joy every day? For me, it’s a combination of natural stone accents, small-scale artworks, and intriguing figurative objects that invite closer examination.

Patterns are excellent for breaking up a monotonous palette. This trend is all about layering different fabrics in vibrant colors and busy prints. Incorporate decorative elements such as lampshades and blankets to infuse some boldness into a room, or be adventurous and decorate with a large animal print rug or patterned furniture.

This tranquil color is having a spotlight moment. The versatile shade works with warm and cool tones, making it the perfect color for decorative accents like lamps, candles, and shams. Create a hotel-like atmosphere with sage bedding from Frette, or combine the pattern-packing and sage color trend with a handblock print tablecloth.

Skirted Furniture

skirted furniture in a living room

Crate & Barrel

Skirted furniture is back. With ‘granny’ chic and cozy interiors becoming more popular, furniture brands are releasing updated styles that feel a little more modern than the fussy skirted pieces of the ’80s. This maximalist trend is a fun way to add textural variety without overpowering a room. A simple ruffled bed skirt can completely transform a bedroom into a romantic, feminine domain. If you don’t want to commit to larger pieces of furniture, opt for a plush stool in velvet jewel-toned fabric for a moody, luxurious look in a dressing room or bathroom.

If ruffles aren’t your preference, there are plenty of tailored options available that lean more contemporary. Depending on what look you’re after, the fabric choice is just as crucial as the skirt’s style. Select airy cotton and linen for a coastal or organic feel, or pick vintage velvets and delicate patterns for timeless elegance.

Wood Tones and Organic Shapes

organic wooden living room

Crate & Barrel

Organic shapes, flowing curves, and earthy tones help evoke a sense of calm and can work surprisingly well when juxtaposed with geometric lines and stark colors. Rich caramel browns and ochres effortlessly add warmth while varying wood grains and striations create plenty of visual interest.

Incorporate a burled console table or an intricately carved credenza to invite dimension and contrast into your space. Pair dark walnut or rosewood with deep hunter greens, chocolate browns, and navy blues to achieve an ultra-moody palette.
